work and personal email addresses
CompletedIs anyone else experiencing problems with staff work and personal/student email addresses including moodle? Do you have a work around? We're experiencing multiple problems.
1. Staff who are doing training with us often want their student related emails to go to their personal email addresses. For work purposes we want their contact email in axcelerate to be their work email address. With the exception of creating two contact records we haven't been able to think of a solution here. We don't want to create two contact records because it'll create two contact ID's and then potentially might get merged and we'll have contact ID issues when reporting student data to departments.
2. email addresses updated in axcelerate aren't automatically updated with a students moodle profile. Causes issues when dealing with all students who want to update their details.
3. Staff who are doing a moodle elearning course with us want their personal email address to be linked to their moodle profile and not their work email address. This is related to item number 1.
Any thoughts from axcelerate or the community would be appreciated. I have seen that multiple contact emails has already been logged in the ideas forum but not sure if that's reached the development pipeline yet or how long that piece of string might be.

As this seems like an enhancement that would benefit multiple clients, we would be very interested to hear some ideas as to how multiple email addresses could be handled by aXcelerate to provide maximum benefit. For example, should the user be able to specify which email address is the default for templates, merge docs, training notifications, surveys, password reset etc? Or simply have a secondary address that would need to be selected by the user? We'd love to hear your thoughts!

Hi Jade, you might be better equipped to make the best decision here but my thoughts are to have two email fields in the contact record, work email address and personal email address.
As an axcelerate user sending emails and communication from axcelerate, by default all emails would be sent from your work email address.
If you're sending a template, merge doc, survey etc then the default email to address would be the contacts personal email address. If no record exists in the personal email address field then it would automatically go to the users work email address.
Perhaps it would be good to for a user to receive a warning and manually confirm which email to use when two email addresses exist including when providing logins

As a school, we distribute student reports to parents rather than directly to students. At present I am playing with setting student families as an "organisation" so they are linked contacts. We could put the parents email address in th student contact address field - but this then means we can either have one or the other. Capabiltiy to add more than one email address to a contact would be useful, particularly the ability to tag an email address and select by that tag to batch send templates etc.
