Pre-requisites for UofC

    Hi Adrian.

We use a combination of an assessment and a workflow to achieve this.  EG:  Create an assessment which the student has to respond to by, for example, uploading a copy of their prerequisite cert.  Once that's done, you can set up a workflow to send you a report which highlights any student where "prerequisite assessment = in progress or not started".

    hope this idea helps,

    Hi Adrian,

We are actually working on this right now and should have some changes released around April. The scope of changes will provide you warnings/alerts when enroling, resulting and issuing certificates.

The scope does not include reports though.

    Cheers,
    Rod.

yeh thanks - I've thought of doing similar but it still doesn't make use of what the system has in it already - in reality it should recognise the UofC held by the student and alert us ( maybe by report / workflow ) that they don't have a require pre-req. I think its really silly that they place a "field" somewhere which in reality has absolutely no use

Rob, just the alert would be a far better use of the system and far more compliant. If it does it on enrolment it would be great. The units we have that are affected state that the student must hold the pre-req prior to attempting the unit, so alerting us on resulting / issuing certs is too late and not complaint,,, the alert upon enrolling is perfect though. I assume it looks at the students portfolio for specific units ?

Also, how will this pre-req, if issued by another provider, be recognised by the system ? Ideally the system should look at the student past held UofC and also maybe their portfolio where we can upload a copy of a pre-req after verifying it and tagging as a specific UofC

Completely agree Rob. Warnings and alerts for pre-requisistes for enrolling, resulting and issuing would be great. Even upon workshop creation would be good as we use a workflow at the moment.

The only place a pre-requisite automatically currently flags is when resulting vie Set All Units of Competency for an individual student and this is only if the pre-requisite unit is included in the class units, which is too late in the process.

Looking forward to these new features to assist with compliance. Thanks for the update Rod.

updating on this --- the system now can look at a student's profile and see if they have the pre-requisite either stored in a 'holding class' as a CT and uses the expiry date for that specific unit ( this is great as it decreases the workload of having to check the pre-req each year ) or if its a direct issue from our RTO. BUT BUT BUT we dont know if they have the pre-req ( anywhere on their profile ) without either going into each student's profile OR attempting to issue a CERT and see an alert preventing the issuing of a cert. This is so time-consuming.

Why can't we have a simple report that looks at all students' profiles for a current pre-req ( either as a CT or actual issuance from our RTO ) in any given workshop. We could use this report to follow up easily on students who still need to supply a copy of a prerequisite. This is such an issue in the first aid field.... The data is there, the system already accesses that data when we attempt to issue a cert so why can't it be accessed prior to the workshop running?

Would love it if aXcelerate could flag a student does not have the prerequisite required before it allows resulting of further competencies that require the prerequisite
