Plagiarism - Cut and Paste should be blocked
Hi,
would be great if students were NOT able to cut and paste directly from the resource and into Assessments. We have many students who are always looking for the quickest and easiest way to complete assessments and with students being able to cut from the resource and past into the assessment is not helping our cause. We never have previously had this issue with other LMSs as they had a function that it was blocked and they were unable to do it. Would be very beneficial if aX could do something about this. Thanks

Ideally it would be better if none of the resources would be able to be copy and pasted. (This may not suit everyone so maybe a way for each RTO to flick a switch if they want it this way if that is an option). The issue we have is that most of our assessment answers are directly in the resources as a majority of our students have LLN issues. The downside to this is that more and more students are not learning but just reading the assessment question and then looking for that answer within the resource and then cutting and pasting the answer. When our trainers then discuss topics with the students although they have answered correctly they haven't actually learnt anything. If they have to at least type out a similar response they retain the information a lot better than cut and paste as they don't retain it. Our trainers typically will not accept a cut and paste response but as the system allow it, students do it and then they have to resubmit the work which slows down the progress of students. I agree. Plagiarism is becoming much more prevalent.
Regardless of the source, Resources, Websites, or AI, you can't stop people from Copying data. But you can stop them from pasting into aXcelerate.
This should be mandatory, not optional; I cannot think of any reason to Copy/Paste into a correctly structured assessment.
At the AQF Level 3 and Above, words like describe, explain, discuss, etc., are a test of a student's ability to impart knowledge, not simply copying/typing it directly from a source.
We provide our LLN students with extra time during assessment.
