Restrict Trainers by Competencies
We have experienced recently a situation where a trainer was assigned and delivered a course but only held some not all the units of competency. We would like to see the option for choosing a trainer be locked to only those who can train and assess all units of competency for the qualification/short course.
This is a massive compliance issue that is open to human error in the current system and should be further looked into.

Apologies for the delayed response. However, I must stress the critical point that implementing this measure would severely hinder our Registered Training Organization (RTO) by depriving us of trainers capable of delivering qualifications. In our context of delivering health qualifications, it's imperative to note that no single trainer possesses all the units of competency within a qualification. Our meticulous approach involves assigning trainers and assessors at a unit level to ensure strict compliance and proficiency. Take, for instance, the Certificate IV in Medical Practice Assisting, which encompasses a diverse array of business and clinical units, necessitating the allocation of specific units to individual trainers. Moreover, expecting a trainer to possess vocational competencies across the vast spectrum of elective units within a qualification is highly improbable. Imposing restrictions on trainers would inevitably translate to limitations on students and their elective choices, a practice diametrically opposed to our ethos of facilitating comprehensive learning experiences.

Is there any update on this?
We have experienced an issue with this again recently. I believe the intention of the original poster was for this to be in the workshop area, this is where we have issues. You can select a trainer to deliver a workshop with linked units that they are not qualified to deliver.

This should be a key control and is a real weakness within the Ax system, in comparison to other SMS. AX really need to review and strengthen this as a key compliance feature. AX - this has been raised multiple times within the Forum over the past 7 years - this really needs to be looked at.

It would also be great if we could create a report for courses that displays not just the assigned trainer but also their competency status. This report could be used for compliance purposes to ensure that trainers allocated to courses are authorised to deliver them.
Currently, administrators can select any trainer who holds the unit. However, we want to ensure the report clearly identifies whether the trainer is fully competent to train and assess the course, or if they are required to deliver the training under supervision.
