Bulk email from report

In order to send a bulk email, I need to add contacts to a merge group; this merge group is populated using the Search Contacts dialog. I can add all students in a particular cohort or select students from that cohort, but (unless I'm missing something somewhere) I cannot select multiple cohorts or filter by start and end date.

For example, we wish to use Axcelerate to send a bulk email to all our students advising of a policy change or similar, because a note would then be saved against their records of each email sent. However as we have many cohorts (100+) with active students, it is not feasible to repeat the merge - check - send process for each cohort.

Further, merge groups are static, so in order to send another bulk email next month, I would have to recreate all those merge groups again.

I'd like to be able to select students using the Report Builder functionality and export the results into a merge group, which can then be used to send emails.

Even better would be to create a dynamic functionality: Warehoused report > Scheduled Run. This would mean we could 'Set and forget' a lot of our regular communications. Failing that, a Report-to-Merge Group would be good.

Unless I'm missing something.

Workflow is able to be used to quickly configure and send one-off emails and we actually have a video outlining how to do this at the link below!

If you don't already use it, you should ask aXcelerate about the workflow engine. The workflow engine is capable of doing this for you.

Agree Michael - we would use this functionality regularly if it was available. For us the workflow engine would not be suitable as it is for one off emails.

Yes, I currently use workflow to send numerous one-off emails. On the whole it is workable, although one still has to create a scheduled task in order to send every simple email...
