Gift Certificates vs Discount code

I would like to set up Gift Certificates for sale for our short courses. To do this I can use the Discount Code however each purchase will have access to the same code.

Can an automated system be set up so that each person purchasing a gift voucher is generated its own unique code.

  Us too - we give out vouchers for a number of reasons, and would like to be able to create unique voucher numbers that can be used at the check out.
