I want to locate or correct a USI
I want to locate or correct a USI without manually accessing the USI website.
We have an ongoing problem with interpreting student's handwriting or digits have been transposed, or the student tells us they've forgotten their USI.
I am unable to locate where in axcelerate that I can locate or correct a USI, and have concluded that I must log into the RTO portal of usi.gov.au. Due to java settings that support our intranet systems, this is not an option.
I am keen to know when this option will be available.

Hi Deirdre,
Thanks for the suggestion. Although aXcelerate does not currently interface directly with the "Locate" function, using the "Create" function will return the student's USI if it already exists (assuming you have sufficient contact details at hand), which may be helpful when unable to access the USI website directly. -
Hi Deirdre,
Upon further investigation, it appears that a USI will only be returned when supplying the exact same information that was used when creating the USI, which we appreciate will not always be possible—apologies for the confusion. We cannot yet give any dates as to when the "Locate" function might be added, as this will depend on feedback and votes from the aXcelerate community. -
I'd like to add a little to this idea. Having attended the VELG conference recently, we were made aware that the search functionality or "Locate" option is now available for student/training management systems to tap into. This would provide a great deal of assistance for all the reasons identified in Deirdre's original post. This I believe will assist all RTOs checking USIs with all the correct matching information, without having to assign a series of AUSKeys to staff (with Java problems - don't get me started).
The options are that you can provide:
- First name and family name
- Date of birth
- Gender
Then at least one of the following:
- middle name
- mobile phone
- town/city of birth
The result will then appear with the correct USI. If multiple results are returned, the additional criteria will be provided to help you narrow your selection.
Given we collect all of the above and we are bound to have at least one of these matches (unless the candidate is so off the mark with their detail) - we can obtain the USI without hassling the student (You must have their permission - which can easily be included on most enrolment forms/procedures).
The ability to check this within a section of Axcelerate would be highly valuable for all administration teams large or small. No logging into the USI portal; again No AUSkeys; no java problems; and highly functioning teams.
I'd love to see the commitment from Axcelerate on this as a priority for checking USIs. Look forward to votes for Dierdre's post! It's at 5 - let's get this up higher for the sake of our administration team's welfare.

Hi Deirdre, while we agree that this would be a useful enhancement to aXcelerate, this has not yet been scheduled in our development plan. The more votes that this idea receives, the sooner it can be implemented, so we look forward to seeing further support from the aXcelerate community for this feature.
