Suggestions for Improved Assessment Versioning System
AnsweredI am reaching out to gather some thoughts and suggestions on a system feature that would help streamline the way we handle assessments, especially in terms of compliance and versioning.
The primary focus is to ensure that the correct version of a quiz is maintained without requiring the cumbersome process of cancelling and re-enrolling students each time an update is made to a live quiz.
Here is the scenario I have in mind.
1. Version 1.0 of an assessment is launched.
Several classes are enrolled in this assessment over time.
Student A completes the quiz on Version 1.0.
2. The quiz is updated.
The admin or teacher updates an incorrect multiple-choice answer to correct a mistake.
The system automatically updates the quiz to Version 1.1, meaning that any new students completing the quiz will do so on the corrected version.
3. No re-enrollment needed for students:
Student B can now complete the quiz on Version 1.1 without needing to be cancelled and re-enrolled.
The goal is to have an automatic system that generates version numbers when changes are made to the assessment, helping to maintain the integrity of the quiz and avoid unnecessary administrative work.
Thanks!

Hi Sashi,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and providing detailed scenarios, we really appreciate your input. We can see how this functionality would be valuable, and it’s something we’ve considered as part of our ongoing improvements. While our current focus is on delivering other enhancements and new features to our LMS, we’ll keep this in mind as we assess future development priorities. Keep an eye out for updates as resources become available.

The system to move students to new versions is very clunky and time consuming.
An automatic versioning system that seamlessly applies updates to current class enrolments without requiring cancellation and re-enrolment, would not only safeguard assessment integrity but also ensure compliance and consistency across cohorts.
I agree that this functionality should be prioritised, as it aligns with quality assurance principles and would bring considerable efficiency to administrators.

I called for such an update 3 years ago:
Deep Edit assessments with instances attached – aXcelerate Support
It was "answered at the time" -
"I will turn this post into a support request and have a member of the team reach out to you." -
Adding to this could you please create a report that shows the version / name that each person is enrolled into. After going through and doing an update through a revision I had to go back and try and find those classes that did not update automatically since someone on the class was already in progress for that unit.
