Class completion type default
Accredited short courses technically count as a qualification according to AVETMISS. We deliver 22556VIC and 22578VIC as some examples.
When we create the accredited workshop, the class that is automatically created marks the option "Students will complete selected units of competency for a statement of attainment". I have been told that this in turn results in incorrect reporting, where the course is not included in 'NAT00130 Program Completed'.
The end result is that we now have to go back and manually adjust all previous classes, and will also have to assign resources to doing this for all future classes as well. This is something that the system needs to consider.
To account for this can you please add an option to set a default for the 'Students will complete...' class setting within the qualification? I'm sure this would benefit other qualifications having the option to set a default for this.

Hi Karl,
As an RTO we also provide 22556VIC and 22578VIC However we report these UNITS as NAT120 files.
We never have reporting or submission issues with these units at Nat 120 files.
NAT120 files are for subjects or units that provide a Statement of Attainment.
V
NAT 130 files which are for programs that provide a qualification such as a cert III in Business.
You might want to look into weather or not you should be reporting your training as Nat 120 or Nat 130.
The AVETMISS help line on 08 8230 8400 is very informative and helpful.
Also here is the web link to definitions which may help:

Hi Karl,
We just got off the phone with Rosa from the AVETMISS hotline as well, and Rosa stated that if you are issuing a Statement of Attainment for 22578VIC, it should remain under 120.
The units of VU23090 and VU23091 fall under the same category 120.
If it is not a Statement of Attainment that you're issuing or if it is a qualification that you're issuing, then it would more than likely fall under NAT130.
We have been doing this for 10+ years with no issues.

Well that's some conflicting information. I was definitely told that 'course' goes in 130 and 'modules' in 120.
I do agree that this should be issued as a statement of attainment.
The VET Collection Specifications however states:
The Training activity (NAT00120) file contains a record for each unit of competency or module...
The Program completed (NAT00130) file contains records for which all requirements for the
completion of the qualification, course or skill set...We have always previously reported accredited courses, such as 22578VIC, along with qualifications and skill sets in the NAT00130 Program file.

Hi Karl,
We just got off the phone with Rosa from AVETMISS and we've managed to get some clarity, I believe we are in the same boat as you.
We are trying to locate the problem you have listed:
"Students will complete selected units of competency for a statement of attainment". I have been told that this in turn results in incorrect reporting, where the course is not included in 'NAT00130 Program Completed'.
The end result is that we now have to go back and manually adjust all previous classes, and will also have to assign resources to doing this for all future classes as well. This is something that the system needs to consider."
Where in the system are you referring to? Can you screenshot and send through an example?

Hi Matthew,
I was actually doing a bit more testing this morning. Here's what I found;
- When the qual setting is changed to '... full qualification' and then you issue certificates, the 'program completion' is included in NAT00130. The certificate will show the red ribbon icon.
- If certificates are already issued (with the blue ribbon icon) and you change it to '... full qualification' afterwards, these students are still NOT included in NAT00130.
I'm going to get in touch with aX again to see what we can do. We have over 500 'accredited course' students already this year and it is in no way practicable for us to manually update all of these classes and reissue over 500 certificates!

Hi Karl - I know I am a little late - but we are experiencing a similar issue - did you end up finding a solution with aXcelerate?
But I second this - currently the default for classes that are automatically created is to be set at 'Students will complete selected units of competency for a statement of attainment'. This can result in incorrect reporting for certificates of certain courses. There needs to be a way to set the default class qualification issuing type at the workshop type level.
