Moodle Courses can be created and managed within aXcelerate, or they can be imported to aXcelerate from Moodle. This allows the Moodle Course to be mapped to one or more Units of Competency within aXcelerate.
Courses
Create a New Moodle Course
- Click Add New Course
- Set the Course Name and Code
- Set a Course Start Date and End Date (Optional)
- Click Create
Tip: The course Start and End Dates correspond to the Access Start and Access End dates of this course within Moodle. Access Start and End Dates are used to control the available date ranges of the Moodle course.
Create a Moodle Course from an existing Qualification
Courses
- Click on the Moodle Icon beside the qualification.
- Click Yes
Tip: This process sets up a Moodle Category for the Qualification Name, and Individual Moodle Courses for each Unit of Competency.
Import a single course or course category from Moodle
- Within the Moodle Category list, select the Import Icon for either the Category or an individual Course within the Category to import
- Click Confirm
Note: This may take some time to run if you have a lot of courses to import under a category.
View a Moodle Course
- Expand the Course Category containing the course you wish to view
- Click the Magnifying Glass icon for your desired Moodle Course
Tip: From the Actions dropdown, when viewing a Moodle course you can manually scan and update Completions. Please refer to our Moodle Course Completions help article for further information.
Note: If the course has not yet been imported, an Import icon will appear instead of the Magnifying Glass icon.
Update a Moodle Course
- Expand the Course Category containing the course you wish to view
- Click the Magnifying Glass icon for your desired Moodle Course
- Click the Update button
- Update the relevant information
- Click Submit
Note: This may take some time to run if you have a lot of courses to import under a category.
Warning: Updating the course in aXcelerate will also update the course data within Moodle. If updated initially within moodle, the changes will not update in aXcelerate if the course has already been imported to aXcelerate. Any changes made in Moodle first will also need to be adjusted within aXcelerate manually. We recommend updating linked data from aXcelerate to avoid this.
Bulk Import Moodle Students to aXcelerate
- Click Bulk Student Import
Tip: You can also bulk import students for each course individually from the course students page.
Note: This will cycle through each imported Moodle course and import all un-linked students. Only top-level students not within a Moodle group which has been created by an aXcelerate class will be bulk imported. To import class students, you will need to do it one-at-a-time from the course students page.
