Custom advanced or code based reports

Requesting changes to reports, including additional filters and display fields, is a long process and I doubt the report builder will ever cater for all use cases.

It would be great if there were an advanced report builder of sorts where you could run any data set from the system you like. This could perhaps be in a separate, unprioritised queue, because waiting a few hours or a day is better than weeks or months for the default reports to be updated.

The other option could be to allow code based reporting. Our old system allowed you to build your own SQL reports which allowed you to pull any data set you could imagine. This also had the added benefit of allowing formatting and other formula based manipulation and filtering.

I agree a number of times, I have contacted the support team for a report that has the required fields, only to be told that this set has some of the ones I want and this set has the others.

A customisable SQL report function would solve this, as it saves us from contacting support and facilitates our requirements.

It is definitely painful when a report doesn't have the filters or display fields that we need to use how we need.

I totally agree - I understand that there are so many fields available for reporting but the ability to develop custom reports that are specific to our needs would be beneficial to our teams.
