More custom labels in the learner portal

Hi, we'd like to customise the headings in the learner portal to what we feel is more user friendly language that our particular cohort of students would relate to more.

Apparently this isn't possible, but we'd like to know why? I might be oversimplifying things but could an extra couple of labels be added to the drop down options?
