Adding future attendance/comments

Our trainers would like to be able to add "absent" attendance and/or comments if they know in advance that a student will not be turning up to a class on a future date, or something needs to be noted for a future class. Currently any date in the future is "Not Available" with the information message that "Future dates cannot be marked".

Can it be modified so it is possible, or at least possible to switch on in system settings. Given this seems to be a limitation the developers have applied to attendance, it doesn't seem it would be too hard to make it an option at the least.

  This would be an extremely helpful feature! We often have students who supply medical certificates that cover future dates, and with a high volume of student's it's very inconvenient needing to go back and check their records on a daily basis for that documentation.
