Sounds like a great idea. Would definitely improve the UX for students.

This would be a good feature for our student users.

Agree, or to prompt to save and continue.
I have personally lost responses (when testing) as i have not hit save and continue, but just jumped to the next question in the menu. When i submitted, only the last answer was recorded, and my reattempt was used.

I know our Trainers would love an autosave feature for their students and for the system to autosave when students change between questions in the menu.

    Hi Ax,

I have been unsure as to whether Ax auto saves or not. Initially I thought the system did autosave student assessments and believe I was advised it did so. However I am unsure that this is actually happening these days.
    Could you advise?

    Thanks

    Hi Martin,
Just thought I'd jump in here and say that the system doesn't save answers or "loses" them during the save/submit process. This is a major issue for our organization and something we have raised a few times (we have also been told it auto saves in the past).

We completed a validation of our incorrect responses this week for a specific course (if we complete a reset/provide additional attempt, we record notes as to the reason). In 90 resets for this course, 30 of them were due to no saved/recorded answer.
On average, I would receive at least one phone call every week where a student has "failed" with no recorded answer.

    Thanks for that information, Ash.

Just to clarify (especially for Axcelerate's benefit during their review of our comments) could I ask you to clarify your statement:

the system doesn't save answers or "loses" them during the save/submit process.

Do I read this to mean that you think the system DOES lose answers? Assuming it can occur when a student doesn't (or cannot) hit the save button when they are preparing answers (possibly due to an interrupted internet connection etc.).

    Cheers

    Hi Martin,

I have had trainers swear they have stood there and watched their student complete the answer correctly, watch them hit save and it still be incorrect. However, I can see on my side no answer was recorded. Our trainers are aware that not answering/saving will result in a "fail", therefore they are fairly vigilant, though we get a lot come through.

Therefore I have to assume that either the trainer is incorrect in seeing the student complete the question / hit save, or that the system is not recording answers submitted/saved.

Personally, I see no benefit of a student being able to submit any "blank" answer, especially for self-marking questions with 100% pass rate.
Therefore, I would suggest that aX auto-saves and also changes the option for an assessment to be submitted without all answers completed. Then, if we continue to have students fail with "no answers" we would clearly be able to determine a system issue and not operator error.
