    agree

Would also be good if administrators could have one on their desktop that they can filter by trainer so can track progress

    Agree and Agree.

Definitely need a place where all submitted assessments for marking are shown to an Admin user.

There is currently no easy way for Admin to check what is being submitted and how quickly trainers are marking assessments.

    Hi Philippa

I am currently managing this oversight through a report that I export into excel template I have set up to create flags depending on how long since submitted - it would be nice if this was available in the system on dashboards

Thanks for the suggestion Amelia, I've taken to having a saved report that I run daily but not ideal since we can only pull warehoused reports and they seem to be failing a lot lately.

Hopefully, they add something extra for us soon.

    Hi All

This release (tonight) we have improved the default ordering for the Assessment Widget. The widget will now sort by the Due Date ascending, then the Submission Date ascending, and finally the Name.

Thank you for your suggestion - we hope this change improves the widget's functionality!

Thanks for the update Mark.  I will have a look tomorrow.  Out of curiosity though, will the Due Date override the Submission Date?  I work with Submission Dates.

    Thanks, Michelle

    Thanks Mark.

I'm just wondering if there is any way to customise the 'sort by' ordering.

For example, we would prefer for the Submission date to be the primary 'sort by' setting since primarily our trainers work on a first submitted - first marked basis so that we can aim to maintain 'marking timeframes'.

    Hi Michelle & Pip

The change we made was only to adjust the default ordering. This was an easy win for us that we wanted to push out to increase the usability of the widget.

I did notice a development task (that is yet to be scheduled, but is being evaluated) to remember the user's last sort between sessions.

If this goes ahead I'll be able to provide a further update.

    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

I think the majority of RTOs and Trainers would find the widget usability to be greatly increased if it used [Submission Date] as the first default ordering rather than the due date.

This is because to ensure trainers can maintain a reasonable marking turnaround timeframe they work on marking submissions from oldest to newest, so the widget should reflect this ordering.

The due date would be the date you set the students to submit the first attempt, allowing for marking and then corrections to be made, so although it might be useful to see if students have submitted an overdue assessment, it would not be the due date for the trainer using the widget to mark assessments and from looking at the widget it looks like submissions with no due date are listed at the top, which doesn't really seem practical for your end-users to have these listed at the top.

Perhaps a simple adjustment to prioritise the submission date over the due date would increase the usability of the widget even more.
