Online Enrolment Course List

Currently the course list draws alphabetically.   Is there anyway to be able to order are most frequently selected course at the top of the list?  

We have added an asterisk to the Course name so the the most frequently used Courses are at the top HOWEVER, the asterisk are now being printed on the Certificates as the templates draw from the course name.   

Is there anyway to be able to determine the order they show up on the course list?   When you have an "add to cart" function on the Course details page you can choose the order in which the courses are displayed it is just the level before where the course list is coded (to be alphabetical?).
