archiving opportunities and follow-ups (or making active/inactive)

Looking for a way to archive old follow-ups and opportunities. Even if we could make them active or inactive like other areas in the database (eg qualifications) its starting to look quite messy when viewing the opportunities and follow-ups that we have entries in there that are couple of years old
