Process of Merging Duplicates
CompletedGood Afternoon All,
I am hoping I am not alone on this one so I thought I would put it out to the Ideas Forum.
We have noticed that there is a high number of contacts in our Merge Duplicate list that are simply not duplicates, They have been identified that they are a duplicate based on their first name and last name.
In order to identify the true number of duplicates in the system, I requested a list of the duplicates through a support request, which was provided and painstakingly filtered through and identified the actual duplicates that needed action.
My idea is 2 pronged:
1. Review the logic for identifying potential duplicates (ie any 3 or First Name, Surname, DOB, Email, Mobile Number, Suburb). This will give organisations a more accurate representation of their position with regards to true duplicates.
2. Creation of the ability to export the report of duplicates, including Contact ID to allow you to work some excel magic to identify newly created contact IDs and new duplicates. Currently you are not able to pull any report of duplicates.
Happy to tweak the ideas a little if anyone else has any other ideas.

Hi Kate & Cindy,
Thank you for your suggestions and apologies for the delayed reply to this post.
I can confirm that since this post was made, aXcelerate have added additional logic and filtering to the merge contacts search including the ability to only show contacts that match on multiple categories such as email address, USI, DOB or given name only.Comment actions -
I wonder whether another idea might be to have an option to tick that says the supposed duplicate has been reviewed and determined to be not a duplicate, and that then puts those (reviewed) records in a different section of the 'Duplicates' area - either at the end of the list or on a separate page.
