Potential update/s to the Calendar
AnsweredThere are a few suggestions which i think all companies would benefit from:
- It would be good if the calendar could have more than 9 Calendar Categories (ones that we could add and alter the colours ourself).
- It would also be good to be able to double click on a time slot to enter a new entry and Axcelerate automatically selects that day and time (similar to what Outlook does) without having to scroll to the top of the page to add a new event which is defaulted to the beginning of that month.
- We would also like to see a calendar which shows entries that are at the same time next to each other, rather than underneath as you can imagine a large company with many meetings going on at once this is hard to track if we are constantly scrolling down to see further entries for that day.
- Possible alert's to pop up on the page which notify you that a meeting is due to start (notification timeframes can be entered as per the organisation)
- Being able to enter a recurring event without adding each event for each day for the remainder of the year (For example public holidays or staff member RDO's)

Hi Georgia,
I just wanted to let you know that we are currently developing a new calendar to replace the existing one. This new calendar framework will allow adding events directly on a particular day/time (a la Outlook), weekly and day views for seeing events side-by-side, and many other features such as the ability to drag and drop appointments.

There are a number of feature request/support tasks around the calendar functionality. Here were my suggestions.
If your wanting ideal features, I would include the following. Im sure others would also appreciate these.1 Google apps/calendar integration (top priority) including notifications. Multiple shared calendars etc.
The ability for the user to set default views and filters for their calendar.(if it behaves as it does now) or separating the training and personal calendars somehow (other than domains, ie my calendar)
The ability for students/clients to book webinars, consultations, or trainig events based on dates we make available. (ie email or hyperlink with proposed dates available and they choose which one/ones)
as per request id 495 from CalvinMarking events as completed. (as per this support task)
Drag to move events on day week and month view.
Events at the same time to view side by side.
integrate the room/resources booking with the calendar, so there is one calendar, again able to be turned on and off like google/outlook calendars

Has there been any progress on the recurring event option on the calendar?
While I know there has been updates to the training event recurring scheduling, there doesnt appear to be anything for other events
I have a several other calendar events that occurs at regular intervals (weekly/ monthly/ quarterly) with no end date and it would be helpful if I didnt need to put it in individually until the end of time.
Also would really like to see the the google apps/calendar integration as per Jeremys previous post

Hi Lindsay, adding recurring event functionality to the calendar is not on our immediate development plan. It might be worthwhile creating a separate post within this forum for recurring events, as this post contains many components (some of which have already been implemented with the new calendar framework).

I agree with Lindsay. My last comment was in August 2015 and being able to add recurring events is still very high on our needs. It is quite inconvenient especially when you have an organisation of up to 50 people, many of these with RDO's fortnightly that we have to enter this in the calendar manually it is very time consuming.I will write a separate post now.
