Learning Plan Enhancement: Option to Keep Modules Locked Until Manually Unlocked
We would like to request an enhancement to Learning Plans that allows modules to be configured to remain locked by default, with access granted only when a user manually unlocks the module.
Currently while modules can be manually unlocked, there is no way to prevent them from becoming available unless an automatic unlock rule is applied (e.g. unlock by date or unlock on completion of a prior module). Meaning we have to manually go in and lock modules to prevent access.
We'd like to see the introduction of an additional unlock option where modules:
- Remain locked with no automatic unlocking applied
- Are made available only when a staff member manually unlocks them
This option would complement the existing unlock rules rather than replace them.
Benefits would include:
- Improved support for instructor‑led, coached, or assessed delivery models
- Greater control over learner progression based on readiness
- Reduced reliance on date‑based or completion‑based workarounds
This change would provide greater flexibility for organisations that require controlled, staged access to learning content.
