'Did not submit' marking option
Hello!
We'd love to see a 'Did not submit' grading option made available.
Our organisation utilises 3 attempts on each assessment - and attempts work great in Axcelerate when the work is submitted - however we're lacking an option to mark a student as 'Did not submit' and have them lose an attempt if they do not submit the assessment.
We use a lot of the 'student workbook' assessment types in Axcelerate and our only option for a student who did not submit by the due date is to manually submit the attempt for the student, mark them unsatisfactory, leave a comment in feedback 'Did not submit' and then have the attempt 2 open for the student the following week.
HOWEVER - because we manually submit a workbook that a student may already have in progress, there are real issues with being able to mark this - we will often mark an entire workbook unsatisfactory, but this leads to confusion with students who only read the grade on an answer 'in progress' as unsatisfactory - lets say they've completed the first 10 questions which are correct.
We can't mark these satisfactory as the student hasn't submitted the work themselves and we can't be confident these are final answers. However marking them unsatisfactory is confusing to the student who then goes back and re-works their answers - and often then supplies and incorrect answer because they change their correct answer with an unsatisfactory mark.
I hope this makes sense, but you can see where the confusions comes in!
A broad 'Did not submit' grade, that doesn't affect individual answers, but instead records as DNS and loses an attempt would be incredibly useful.
