i think im a little confused now - the "expected " is simply a number we can use as a guide isn't it ?  It doesn't actually relate to anything specific other than a guesstimate ?

It is used for the online enrolment, you have to enter 0 or 1 to show available places but then it doesn't reflect the number of students that are actually expected until they complete the enrolment.

understood but the number we put in doesn't actually do anything - its simply an estimate of what we think will enrol ?

From my understanding, the 'Max', 'Estimated' and actual enrolments are used to calculate the available places.

With Max=10, Estimated=5 and Actual=4, only 1 place will be available for online enrolment. It doesn't make sense to me but that seems to be how it works, hence I've come to think of 'Estimated' as 'Reserved'.

could we just keep the number to be always 0?
