Task link to calendar event

I find the 'advanced scheduling' section of tasks beneficial in automatically entering the task into the calendar however is it possible to extend the functionality? It would be good to be able to enter an exact time like an event and then be able to invite other attendees. I would also like to see these entries appear on the dashboard in upcoming events. This way we could link our tasks and associated meetings together.
