Hi Luke and Tina! Thanks for submitting this feedback. I agree that this would be a worthy addition to the media library. Merging files can get a bit complicated, and it's not something we're looking to implement in the short term, but we'll definitely keep an eye on this post as more feedback comes in.

I support Luke on this one. Within assessment and content development, you have the choice to choose an item from the Media Library. But when adding a thumbnail to an assessment, to make them stand out, the only choice is to upload from an outside source, not choose what is already in the media library. My library is getting messy now too.

    Thanks Brendan for the feedback.
Perhaps an interim help would be to indicate where an image is used.
When I make draft assessments I may upload an image, then delete it and upload a newer version of that image. Yet the old one remains in the library. Would be nice to see which image is actually in use, making it easier to delete. Not having this info makes deleting more risky.

    Cheers

Hi Brendan. Perhaps to stop the issue escalating, we can implement Martin's suggestion above, and also enable images to be chosen from the media library when choosing thumbnails for assessments, on top of the choice to upload from external sources.

Hi all, We are having similar issues as we cannot determine where the images are located in assessmens and are hesitant to remove them but it is messy and takes up storage space.

Even if we can run a report or something short-term that has the image and what it's linked too. We could at least archive / delete any images from courses no longer in use.

Still having the same issue despite having solid naming conventions as time poor people find it quicker / easier to upload their own image. Would it be easier to implement a Find / Replace option like Word? If I use Luke's RPL images on original post

    Find what? Select images 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

    Replace with? Image 1.

Following on from Ash's comment, can we have a column called "Count" so we know how often a resource has been used which might be easier than running a report?
