- To create a new Development Plan, select Get Started under Create your Development Plan
- To update an existing Development Plan, select My Development Plan and select Edit your Plan
The Development Plan step-by-step wizard will guide you through the process of creating your Development Plan.
Tip: Your Development Plan can always be updated later in case you make a mistake or change your mind.
Overview
The overview is an informational step where your organisation has the opportunity to provide an introduction or guidance for creating your Development Plan.
Identify your learning goals
This section enables you to identify your primary CPD Learning Goal. You also have the opportunity to set one or more sub-goals. It's important to note that your CPD Goals are private to you and not visible to your organisation. They can be used to demonstrate to your industry body that you have taken a considered appoach to your CPD for the period.
Determine the scope of your role
This step allows you to choose responsibilities that you are required to do in your day-to-day role. The purpose of selecting responsibilities is so that the system can automatically select some related technical competencies you may wish to develop via CPD. In turn, the responsibilities will inform the CPD activities that you might undertake.
Review your Competencies
As outlined previously, the Review your Competencies section will have pre-selected the competencies that relate to the Role Responsibilities that you identified. You have the option to enable any additional competencies you wish to develop in this period, or disable any that you feel are not relevant.
Identify your development needs
This step displays the remaining competencies that you have previously selected. Any competencies previously deselected have been removed from view, making it easy to perform a final check-and-balance of the competencies you intend to develop as part of your CPD year.
Select your Activities
Now that you have confirmed your Competencies, you're able to select your CPD activities for the period. Click Select from the catalogue to get started. The Competencies that you previously selected will inform which Activities appear in the catalogue. If you wish to override the filter and view all Activities available to you, deselect the Relevant to my plan filter on the left.
Add any activities that you wish to include on your Development Plan by selecting them and choosing Add to Plan. You can also Bookmark activities to easily find them again later if you wish.
Review your plan
The Review your plan section allows you to review your Development Plan. If you need to make any changes, you can move back through the editor.
Once you are satisfied with your Development Plan, save by pressing Get Started.
Completing an Activity
Once you've created your Development Plan, you will be able to begin completing activities that you included in your plan.
- Navigate to your Role
- Select My Development Plan
- Expand the categories to view the Activities you selected
- Select an Activity to begin completing it
- Alternatively, choose Add Activity to launch the Catalogue, or Self-record CPD to record an external Activity (e.g. attending a conference). Self-recording CPD activities is explained below.
Creating a Self-Recorded Activity
You may have completed CPD activities external to your organisation, and therefore are not available in your CPD Catalogue. These activities can still be tracked for your CPD requirements by Self-recording them.
- Navigate to your Role
- Select My Development Plan
- Select the CPD Category the activity belongs to
- Select Self-record CPD
- Add the relevant information evidence and select Save Entry
Completing a Goal
The goals you set when designing your Development Plan appear at the bottom of the Activities section within your Professional Development Plan. Using this section, you're able to Edit or complete these goals.
